Peel Business Park – Wastewater Pumping Station & Pressure Main

Cossill & Webley, acting as civil engineering consultant to DevelopmentWA, delivered the design and construction superintendence of a major wastewater system to service the Peel Business Park industrial estate.

The project comprised a Water Corporation Type 90 Wastewater Pumping Station (WWPS) and 6.7km of DN450 sewer pressure main, forming critical enabling infrastructure for the development.

The 11-metre-deep pumping station was constructed in challenging ground conditions, including high groundwater levels and acid sulfate soils. These constraints required careful engineering design and proactive construction management to mitigate associated risks.

The pressure main alignment traversed across road reserves and private property, incorporating multiple trenchless installations via microtunnelling beneath key infrastructure such as the Kwinana Freeway, as well as a bridge crossing of the Serpentine River. The route also demanded close coordination with major existing services, including Western Power transmission assets, ATCO high-pressure gas pipelines and Water Corporation assets.

Traffic management and service integration were key to the design approach, ensuring the works were delivered safely and efficiently while minimising disruption to surrounding infrastructure and road users.

The result is a robust, high-capacity wastewater solution that underpins the continued growth and functionality of Peel Business Park.
