Heartford Estate
Heartford Estate is a 2,000 lot masterplanned community in the growing suburb of Donnybrook, just north of Melbourne. Located within the Shenstone Park Precinct Structure Plan, the development spans multiple stages and includes extensive civil and infrastructure works to support the growing community.
A major engineering milestone was the installation of a major 450mm diameter branch sewer line with depths of up to 10 metres to service the estate.
One of the sites key constraints were the existing transmission pressure gas pipelines that traverse through the project. While posing an engineering design challenges, they will ultimately become a central pedestrian and cycle route connecting residents to open spaces and community amenities.
To address the sites flat topography and the presence of existing gas pipelines, Cossill & Webley in collaboration with hydrologists at Alluvium, developed an innovative draining solution that minimised debris and reduced maintenance. This unusual approach required close coordination with Melbourne Water and is a strong example of engineering innovation and collaboration.
