Eglinton Bore Water Collector Main
As part of the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant, Water Corporation is delivering an adjacent groundwater treatment plant to further strengthen Perth’s water supply and support the cities long-term resilience to climate change.
Together, the desalination and groundwater treatment plants will ultimately supply up to two-thirds of Perth’s potable water. The broader project includes a network of groundwater abstraction bores and bore collector mains.
Cossill & Webley prepared the design for 2600 metres of bore collector main along Marmion Avenue, the future Alkimos Drive corridor and within the Alkimos Vista Estate. The design responded to a number of complex interface and environmental constraints, including:
- Crossing over the Yanchep Rail Extension
- Coordination with trunk service alignments in Alkimos Drive and Marmion Avenue
- Coordination with the developer at Alkimos Vista to agree the bore main location within future road reserves with consideration of future services and planting within the reserve
- Tunnel boring design beneath Marmion Avenue and trunk infrastructure including high pressure gas
- Integration with future Mitchell Freeway design levels
- EPR/LFI induction modelling adjacent to Western Power’s future 132kV overhead transmission lines
- Environmental considerations through adjacent conservation areas
Through early-stage engineering and careful coordination, Cossill & Webley resolved complex alignment issues alongside multiple future trunk services – delivering a practical, buildable and efficient design outcome for Water Corporation.
